The Afty
Affectionately known as The Afty, we’re an out-of-school childcare service in the West End of Glasgow.
Meeting the needs of children and providing them with fun and challenging activities and play opportunities is at the heart of our services. We ensure the health and wellbeing of children through our daily practice which supports the aims of the United Nation Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), and the Getting It Right For Every Child (GIRFEC) approach alongside the SHANARRI wellbeing outcomes, and Playwork Principles.
• We have after-school clubs at three primary schools – Hyndland, Notre Dame and Thornwood.
• We also run a Breakfast Club during termtime + an all-day Holiday Club for Spring, Summer and mid-terms.
As a registered service, many parents are eligible for government support to help pay for childcare costs either through tax credits or the tax-free childcare system. You can find more information about this on our Fees page.
We are committed to delivering high quality services and have an ongoing quality improvement plan in place. We are also currently participating in the Scottish Out of School Care Network’s (SOSCN) Achieving Quality Scotland (AQS) Quality Improve and Assessment process.
Parent testimonial
‘I believe they do the very best for my children. It is a happy and stimulating environment. They are always striving to improve, never making do.’
