Spring 2015
Dear Parent/Guardian,
We are organising a shoebox appeal for a local children’s home in Glasgow. This is part of our ongoing ‘Bigger Picture’ project, encouraging the children to think about others less fortunate than themselves around the world. For the shoebox appeal, we have decided to focus our efforts on the local area, to encourage awareness of the struggles young people may face in the community.
During the Easter Holidays, we will be making up shoeboxes and filling them with toys and treats that other children may not have. The children will decorate and donate items to the boxes, giving their own personal touch. We would be very grateful if you could donate unwanted or unneeded items to put in the shoebox. We have compiled a suggested list of appropriate items that could be donated:
• Small toys/teddies
• Art supplies (paper/notepad/pens)
• Playing cards/games
• Books
• Toiletries
• Sweets/chocolate
If you have any other ideas, please let us know. We are encouraging the children to have as big a part in this project as possible.
Kind regards,
The Afty
